How to Transfer a Tenant to a Different Unit in the 6Storage Admin Portal

Move a tenant from one unit to another while retaining their account and payment history.

Transferring a tenant to a new unit is simple within the 6Storage admin portal. Follow the steps below to complete the transfer process.

 

Step 1: Locate the Tenant Profile

To begin, navigate to the tenant’s profile:

  • Use the search bar at the top of the screen for a quick lookup
  • Or, click on the Tenants tab and find the tenant from the list

 

Step 2: Open the Rental Details Menu

Once inside the tenant’s profile:

  • Look for the Rental Details section in the bottom right
  • Click the menu icon in the corner
  • Select the Transfer option from the dropdown

 

Step 3: Review Current Rental and Billing Information

You’ll now see the tenant’s existing unit and billing details. This section is for reference and should display all current rental information by default.

 

Step 4: Select the New Unit

Choose the new unit the tenant will be moving into:

  • Use the dropdown filters on the left to narrow down your options
  • Select the desired unit from the list

 

After choosing a unit, you can:

  • Enter a new gate code and set access hours (if using an automated access control system)
  • Add or update vehicle information
  • Set access permissions for alternate contacts

 

Step 5: Update Billing Preferences

Next, update any necessary billing settings. You can:

  • Charge a new deposit
  • Transfer the existing deposit
  • Mark the tenant as tax exempt, if applicable
  • Add additional billing periods

 

Step 6: Add Optional Charges

You can now apply any additional charges or discounts as needed:

  • Content coverage
  • Fees or services
  • Merchandise
  • Discounts

 

Once everything is filled out and reviewed, select submit to complete the transfer.
